#FeelGoodBloggingChallenge
Day #2's challenge asks us to share our passion in story form so I'll share my trip to London,I've been meaning to blog the experience since I got back , 2 weeks ago and I also think it will guide be to a secondary passion.
two weeks ago I turned 23!! woop woop and for my birthday I decided I wanted to go out of the country. I had gotten my passport in preparation to study abroad in Spain for my last semester, but a delay in finding an internship caused me reconsider. An internship is required for graduation, study abroad is not, " Alex, I'll take the internship for 500 points and graduation ". The first step in my birthday abroad was to find some place to go. I originally wanted to go to Paris because I mean "Paris is always a good Idea" especially when its fashion week ...except when its fashion week and you can't find stand by a seat on a plane or a hotel room for that matter. My mom and I searched for flights into nearly every country in Europe to no Cost efficient avail (mom's a flight attendant, which means discounted tickets for me, so when I say cost efficient I mean CHEAP). After a few days we found seats on a flight to London, England. I was excited to go there my friend had studied abroad there and my brother had just come back from European tour. I wanted to go some place where everyone too also spoke english just in case we had any mishaps...and boy did we!!
My mom and I arrived in London with no hotel or hostel booked, no flight back booked, all we knew was that we were there. I was in Freaking London!! We got off the plane and sat in a little cafe to look for a place to stay for the night. after 2 hours and no luck my mom decided we should just go into the city and walk around and find a place to stay the old fashion way, on foot....with all of our luggage. So we hopped on the piccadilly line and went to piccadilly circus (the only place we knew) and began walking...with all of our luggage. We were in the heart of London and it was beautiful. So many different people the buildings were tall but not the boring rectangle buildings in NYC. After about 2 hours and no door to door hotel luck, we happened upon a starbucks and decided to continue looking online. I found a pretty nice hostel for relatively cheap. YAY! We hopped on a red double decker bus (not to be confused with the double decker tour busses lol!) We got off at the wrong stop, of course, nowhere near the hostel. We asked for directions, and were told it wasn't to far...lies you tell. We walked in circles for another 3 hours...with all of our luggage. when we finally find the hostel they were all booked, of course but the nicest girl helped us find a hotel across the city after another hour or so. THANKS April!
We got to our hotel and crashed after a day of walking around with all of our luggage. In the morning we did London like some tourist big bus tours, buckingham palace, Big Ben ( which is actually the bell and not the clock), the Thames river boat tour, oh and fish and chips. after a day of fun the hotel search began again. We were not able to stay in the first hotel because it was oversold for that night. Thankfully we were allowed to leave our luggage at the hotel while toured and searched for a place to stay. One of the oversold hotels we wanted to stay let us use their computer and I found a place near the airport yay! We went back out and did some more sightseeing made our way to the new hotel 9 which took 3 hours because we got lost) , ate, slept and left the next day.
So what does this story have to do with my passion? Travel, the ADventure , not knowing! I was scared at times but Id do it all over again. As long as I can remember I've wanted to travel and I did and it was nothing like I expected but I wouldn't have it any other way. I think that's the definition of passion.
Going in with a certain expectation of what you love and it not be anything like you'd imagine and loving it even more for it !
